Daniel graduated from Hopkins School on the Green and from Yale, class of 1725. He became a freeman in 1740. He married Mehitable (Mabel) Brown, daughter of Francis and Hannah (Alling) Brown. They had ten children, among them were Daniel (died age 2), Daniel (died age
6 5) and Hannah (died age 8). All were buried in the Crypt. Daniel gained his wealth through coastal trade and with the West Indies. His house was near the harbor on Meadow Street.
According to my own research, Captain Daniel Trowbridge was born on October 25, 1703. His parents were Thomas Trowbridge (1663-1711) and his second wife Mary (Winston) Trowbridge (1667-1742); his paternal grandfather was the Thomas Trowbridge who died in 1702. Daniel married Mabel on April 8, 1731. He worked initially as a sea captain before he became a colony merchant.
