Mary (Hall) Forbes, 1751-1784.

The wife of Captain Elijah Forbes.  The Forbes family originated in Aberdeen, Scotland and came to New Haven in the 18th century from Salem, Massachusetts.  The family residence was on Fleet (State) Street; there is record of Capt. Forbes returning from a trip to the West Indies in the fall of 1771.  In 1779, he was briefly taken prisoner by the British, and in 1801, he was listed as a founding partner in the newly incorporated “Union Wharf Company in New Haven.”
